Fisherman drowned

A fisherman drowned when the boat capsized in the sea off Batticaloa on Sunday.

The Police said the boat capsized in the sea nearly 200 m off the Mohoththuwaram beach in Battiacoloa. Two other fishermen who were in the boat managed to survive.

The fishermen had left the shore around 2 pm for fishing. Antony Pillai Raju (60) of Abruus street, Karuwapanneni drowned in the mishap. His remains were kept at the Batticaloa Hospital for the postmortem. Batticaloa Police are conducting further investigations. SKM
