US Government to stop leaks from Wikileaks
US: The US Government will try to stop the flow of documents by
Wikileaks, said Vice President Joseph Biden today.
In statements to NBC's program Meet The Press, Biden did not reveal
details of the government's plan, but he issued strong criticisms of the
founder of the site, Julian Assange who expressed the fear of being
extradited to the US.
Biden said that if Assange plotted with a member of the US army to
obtain restricted documents that is different from a journalist
receiving information from a secret source.
A young US soldier is in detention suspected of being the source for
the revelation of some 250,000 US confidential diplomatic documents
published by Wikileaks.
Meanwhile in London, lawyers for Assange denounced the intentions of
the British press to discredit the image of their client by publishing
details of the sexual charges against him.
The lawyers claim that the accusations of assumed sexual misconduct
are part of a conspiracy by the Swiss authorities to extradite their
client and hand him over to the US.
