University entrance handbook out today

The University entrance Handbook for the academic year 2010/2011 would be issued today. The candidates could obtain the University Handbook from any authorized agent islandwide.

Candidates who have qualified to enter universities following the results of the 2010 A/L examinations could send applications by registered post before January 11, 2011. Minimum Z-Scores for each district and for each course will be released after the Re-scrutinized marks by the Department of Examinations.

According to the 2010 Advanced Level examination results 142,381 students have passed the exam. and about 25,000 students would have the chance of entering a University. Higher Education Minister S B Dissanayake said that about 25,000 students would be admitted to Universities for the next academic year scheduled to start by June 2011.
