Police carols add colour to Christmas

The annual Police Christmas Carols was held at the Bambalapitiya
Police grounds on Sunday in the presence of a large gathering.
The chief guest His Eminence Malcolm Cardinal Ranjith. Defence
Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa, Ayoma Rajapaksa, Attorney General
President’s Counsel Mohan Pieris, Priyanthi Pieris, Inspector General of
Police Mahinda Balasuriya and Asha Kumari Balasuriya were received at
the entrance to the Police Grounds by Senior DIG N K Ilangakoon, Senior
DIG K P P Pathirana, Commandant Field Force Headquarters Senior SP UK
Dissanayake, co-ordinated by Field Force Headquarters Administrator and
Band SP Priyantha Jayakody.
The Police Band was in attendance. The Bambalapitiya police grounds
was illuminated and was a colourful sight. Several former IGPs Frank
Silva, Ana Senaviratne and Chandra Fernando were among the distinguished
gathering at the Police Carols 2010. Singers Anjalene Gunatilake,
Noeline Honter, Sohan Weerasinghe and the Police choral group performed.
The Police Band was led by Band Master Inspector Sumith Liyanage.
Assistant Band Masters Inspector Aruna Mudunkotuwa and Inspector Bernard
Augustine also participated. The Police Cultural Troupe performed
several dancing items under the direction of Superintendent of Police
Karunarathna Bandara.
His Eminence Malcolm Cardinal Ranjith prayed for peace, harmony and
happiness in Sri Lanka.
IGP Mahinda Balasuriya thanked all those for helping make the Police
carols a success.
OIC Field Force Headquarters, Chief Inspector Dhammika Dayananda,
Chief Inspector L Rohana Gamage, Sub Inspector M L Naffer and other
members of the Police Media Division provided the security. |
