Korean charity as impressive as Taekwondo
The annual forum on Korea Overseas Volunteer (KOV) Program was held
recently at Galle Face Hotel, Colombo with the participation of Korea
International Co-operation Agency (KOICA) staff members, Heads of
volunteer recipient organizations such as Colleges of Technology,
National Schools, Universities, Departments, Bureaus and Councils;
including the External Resources Department of the Ministry of Finance
and Planning.
The purpose of this forum was to seek the suggestions and comments
from the host organizations for KOVs on their job performances and
effectiveness of their services in order to enhance the quality of the
program and to enable them to provide better service to the host
organizations. The KOICA's KOVs Program was initiated in 1990, aimed at
sharing Korean volunteers' expertise, knowledge and experience with
their Sri Lanka counterparts.
Since commencement of KOVs program to Sri Lanka, a total of 55 KOVs
have served in the fields of IT, Agriculture, Vocational training,
Korean language training, physical education, architecture, automobile
and Taekwondo training and so on.
KOICA will continue its efforts to work together toward sustainable
development of Sri Lanka by conducting KOVs programs and other grants as
