Nepali Parliament begins special session

NEPAL: A special session of Nepali Legislature Parliament was scheduled to begin at the Constituent Assembly hall yesterday afternoon. President Ram Baran Yadav summoned the House last week after 187 lawmakers from the Unified Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist) ( UCPN-M) and some fringe parties requested him to do so in writing.

According to the schedule provided by the parliament secretariat, Sunday’s proceedings at the House will be limited to formality and the House enter into business only from Monday.

Speaker Subash Chandra Nemwang will read a letter from the President summoning the House soon after the proceedings begin. Then, Speaker Nemwang will allow the leader of UCPN-M, which requested the President to call the House, to address the House and explain why it was necessary to call a special session.
