A Zainulabdeen Memorial Soccer Tournament

Slave Island Eleven Sports Club will conduct a Masters Soccer Tournament in memory of that great soccer stalwart and legend late A Zainulabdeen tomorrow at the City Football Ground, Colombo 2. Eight teams consisting of past soccer greats will play in this tournament.

Teams participating are: Slave Island Eleven, Colombo Veterans, Maligawatte Veterans, Old Bens, Old Zahirians, Madhyama Lanka, Colpetty United and Old Ratnams.

Zainulabdeen (Zainul) contributed a lot towards the upliftment of Sri Lanka football and Slave Island in particular.

He represented the national team for about 15 years. He also captained the national team.

He has served football in many positions. He was a national coach, technical advisor, president, City Football League, Secretary, City Football League, President, Colombo Football League, Secretary, Nationalized Services and was a board-member under F A Yaseen.
