SL fishermen arrested in Indian waters

Three multiday boats with a complement of 16 Sri Lankan fishermen who set sail from Kalpitiya and Chilaw shores have been taken into custody by Indian Coast Guards for entering into Indian territorial waters on Wednesday.

Fisheries Department Director General S W Pathirana said steps were being taken to release them through the Indian High Commission. According to information received, these fishermen were residents of Chilaw, Puttalam and Kalpitiya areas.
