Dhanika takes lead

Seventeen year old Dhanika de Silva of British School shot a superb 77 in the first round to snatch the lead in the Sri Lanka Junior Open Golf Championships which is now in progress at the Royal Colombo Golf Club.

Last year's winner Sachin de Silva also from the British School is in the second place on 79 in the Gold Division of the 15-17 year age group category. Saven Fernando and Charitha Puspika are tied for the 3rd place on 89.

Meanwhile the only girl playing in this division, Nadine Jayaratne, shot a 90 to be in 5th place. In the silver division for 11 - 14 years Sachin de Silva who won the Junior Open Championship in 2009 shot a 79 to lead by 4 strokes from Preshan Peiris who had a score of 83.

In the bronze division for 10 years and under which is played over 2 days with 9 holes per day, Arvind Hidramani from Colombo International School aged 9 years is in first place having shot a 68.
