Gratuity payment :
Victory for Minister and CTB
The CTB has started making gratuity payments due to its employees who
have retired from service since 2005, at a ceremony held at its
Narahenpita headoffice under the patronage of Transport Minister Kumara
Welgama and Deputy Minister Rohana Dissanayake recently.
The Cabinet has allocated Rs 663 million for the gratuity payments
following a request by Welgama.
The Minister addressing the gathering, described the CTB employees as
a group of people who had loved their motherland from the bottom of
their heart. He said he was always committed to protect and safeguard
their rights. He said that he had already implemented several programs
aimed at reviving the CTB which had fallen into dire straits in the past
and this would help the commuting public and the CTB staff, to realize
their hopes and aspirations.
Transport Deputy Minister Rohana Dissanayake, said that the granting
of Cabinet approval for the payment of gratuities within a short time is
a victory for both the Minister and the CTB employees. |
