Minister Mervyn Silva addressing the gathering said organizations
like the All Ceylon Independent Volunteer Association are a truly need
to foster understanding and trust among various sections of society.
The activities of organizations of this nature were a challenge to
the Tamil Diaspora abroad who are trying to undermine Sri Lanka’s unity
and territorial integrity.
He said people of all communities are part and parcel of Sri Lanka
having the same blood running through their veins and no one would be
allowed to drive a wedge among people of different communities living in
this country again.
He thanked the Sinhalese, Muslims and Tamils who ensured him a
convincing victory from the Gampaha District at the recent General
Elections.
President’s Co-ordinating Director Sampath Tennekoon addressing the
gathering said he has associated with many politicians including
Ministers and Parliamentarians throughout his career and Minister Mervyn
Silva can be considered as an outstanding personality adept at finding
instant solutions to people’s problems by overcoming all challenges.
Association Secretary Yassar addressing the gathering said Sri Lanka
has now transferred into a united nation where people of all communities
can live in friendship and unity. And as such promotion of understanding
and co-operation among social groups was a timely need.
Their organization would work towards this objective under the
direction of their President Niyas Mowlavi, he said.
