Assange remanded until Dec 14
WikiLeaks' founder Julian Assange was remanded in custody until
December 14 by a London court on Tuesday after he said he would fight
extradition to Sweden where he faces rape allegations.
Assange, appearing before Westminster Magistrates Court following his
arrest earlier Tuesday, was told he faced allegations of sexual offences
against two women in Sweden.
District judge Howard Riddle told him: "These are extremely serious
allegations."
The judge refused bail for 39-year-old Assange despite an offer by
personalities including film director Ken Loach and socialite Jemima
Khan to put up bail for him. LONDON, Tuesday, AFP
