UNP MP Ravi Karunanayake said President Mahinda Rajapaksa has done
well with the Fisheries sector.
Speaking at the opening ceremony of the Ceylon Fishery Corporation's
70 th outlet at the Kattangiya junction in Nugegoda, MP Karunanayake
said President Rajapaksa has placed a good Ministry (Fisheries and
Aquatic Resources Development Ministry) in good hands when he appointed
Dr Rajitha Senaratna as the Fisheries Minister.
"My friend and Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Development Minister
Senaratne has brought fish prices down at a difficult time which the
price of bread is at Rs 50 and a kilo of rice is at Rs 75," said
Karunanayake adding that although he is a member of the Opposition, he
would like to congratulate the President on that.
"There is no point in being critical of everything that a government
does just because one is in the Opposition camp," he said.
We shall appreciate and admire those activities that are good for
their worth in spite of our political differences," he said.
He said he is pleased that the Kotte electorate has got a Ceylon
Fishery Corporation outlet that would sell fish at lower rates to
masses. Fisheries Minister Rajitha Senaratne said that the number of
Ceyfish outlets will be increased from 70 to 100 before the end of
January next year.
It will be further increased to 250 outlets before the end of next
year, he said.
Some of them will be established at Sathosa outlets, he said.
