Bad light foils St Servatius

St Servatius' College was deprived of qualifying for the prequarter-finals
of the Ran Kekulu Trophy Under-13 Division I cricket tournament when
play was called off after the first mandatory over was bowled due to bad
light in their second round match against Thurstan College, Colombo. The
match was played on the Thurstan College ground on Wednesday and ended
in a no decision.
On winning the toss St Sevatius invited the home team to bat and they
made 155 in 44.2 overs. Charana Nanayakkara (54 with five fours and four
sixes) and Praneesha Thilakaratne (21 with a four and two sixes)
contributed with the bat. Tharindu Maduranga (4/23), Dilshan Rajapakse
(3/20) and Ramesh Nimantha (2/44), shared the wickets.
St Servatius were 90/7 when umpires Sagara Gallage and Paul
Wimalasekera called off play after the first mandatory over. Kavindu
Umesh was unbeaten on 27. Eranga Jayasinghe (3/39) and Indula
Jayatilleke (2/19) were the wreckers.
Thurstan College qualified for the pre-quarter finals of the Ran
Kekulu Trophy Division I cricket tournament together with D S Senanayake
College from Group 'Q'.
