Sri Lanka needs to meet the global competition in branding by
creating it own brands that are on par with international standards.
Avirate will fill this vacuum as a Sri Lankan apparel brand with plans
to explore overseas markets shortly. It will become an international
brand as well, Timex Garments and Avirate Managing Director Arshad
Sattar told Daily News Business.

“We have considered the need to have a fashion store in Sri Lanka for
our customers and what we offer is 95 percent manufactured locally.
We have plans to cater to the Indian market by next year and to the
UK within two to three years”, he said.
Avirate launched its flagship store at Maitland Crescent, Colombo 7
yesterday. The new Avirate collection is designed by the Timex Garments.
The fashion store set up by the Timex Garment will be a high street
retailer providing quality garments that are available in countries such
as UK. “These products are value for money from the point of price.
This will become one of the best stores. We intend promoting local
resources and the Sri Lanka’s apparel industry, Sattar said. The launch
of this on-trend store under high-street fashion with its international
range of fashion wear will coincide with the upcoming season.
The Avirate store is Sri Lanka’s latest and only destination that’s
home to a complete range of on-trend fashion.
Avirate is a venture by Timex, one of the top five apparel
manufacturers in the country. |
