Two die in vehicle collision

Two people died yesterday afternoon following a road accident when a car collided with a three-wheeler.

According to police sources, the car plying on Mirigama - Pasyala road had crashed into a three-wheeler coming from the opposite direction at the Mallanewa area.

The car had collided with anther three-wheeler which has been parked by the side of the road. Police believes that the driver of the car had lost control of the vehicle due to speeding.

Two people who were in the three-wheeler had died after admission to the Watupitiwala hospital.

The victims were identified as Gavus Niyas (31) and Niyas Siyas (32) of Pasyala. The driver of the car has been taken into police custody.
