Bad weather continued to plague the third Test between Sri Lanka and
the West Indies as the third days play was completely washed out without
a ball been bowled at the newly constructed Pallekelle International
Stadium in Kandy yesterday. The West Indies were set to resume their
first innings on 244 for five with Brendan Nash on 62 and Carlton Baugh
on 0 at the crease.
However overnight rain coupled with incessant drizzle in the morning
meant that the covers were left on past the scheduled start of play.
The two umpires Asad Rauf and Bruce Oxenford along with the match
referee Alan Hurst eventually decided to call off the game at 2.45 p.m.
The first two days in Pallekele which is hosting a Test match for the
first time - were also curtailed due to the bad weather with only 81
overs possible in all.
Play on the fourth day of the Test match will resume at 9.45 a.m
today weather permitting. |
