Grants for flood victims

Officials of Agriculture Department often say that for a rich harvest of paddy, transplanting should be practised. Following their instructions, a majority of farmers in Rajarata can be seen these days engaged in transplanting. Here some females accompanied by a male are seen engaged in the job in fields under Tisawewa. (Senapura D Nissanka, Anuradhapura East Group correspondent)

At least 615 families have been displaced and 211 houses damaged due to the prevailing showers in Kurunegala district, Sisira Wanninayake, the Provincial Disaster Management Director NWP said.
