Serpents in lagoon:
No connection with tsunami threat
Jaufer Kahn Batticaloa group correspondent
A Batticaloa Disaster Management Centre officer said that there is no
connection between the appearing of serpents in the Batticaloa, Kalladi
Lagoon and a possible tsunami situation.
These creatures are a kind of fish called eel and there is no reason
for residents to panic as necessary measures have been taken to alarm
them of possible tsunami threat if any, he further said.
The officer explained that over the last 25 years these creatures
could be seen in the lagoon in December every year.
A fisherman in the area said these creatures come to the shore during
night and go back during the day time. |
