Suspects nabbed with wrong shoes
Three released on bail:
Three suspects transporting a stock of shoes and other goods of a
foreign make in a lorry were arrested by officers of the Western
Province North Crimes Division led by Inspector Subodha on November 24
when they failed to establish ownership of the goods.
On investigation, Police found that the suspects had been
transporting goods belonging to another importer after getting them
released from a cargo company in Nugegoda without the knowledge of the
owner.
The suspects were produced in the Hulftsdorp Magistrate Court No. 3
and released on bail and warned to appear in court again on December 6.
The goods seized included 274 pairs of male shoes, 781 pairs of
children's shoes, 155 pairs of ladies shoes, 661 pairs of male slippers,
71 ladies handbags and 59 children's feeding bottles, said a Police
Headquarters press release.
