Colombo’s music lovers were entertained by world renowned carnatic
music artiste Nithiyashree Mahadevan’s vibrant vocal recital at the New
Kathiresan Hall, Bambalapitiya, recently.

Nithyashree’s recital was the highlight of the program organized by
the Hindu Educational Society.
Nithiyashree is gifted, not just with a scintillating voice, but also
with a family that has enriched Carnatic Music in many ways,
Nithiyashree is modest about her achievements. Preceding Nithyashree’s
recital there was an absorbing vocal rendering by her niece Thamil Isai
Kuyil Lavanya Sunderaraman.
Instrumentalists Thirupugal Mamani, Thiru I Sivakumar on Mirudangam,
Violinist Thiru Ramachandran Sivakumar, Thiru Madangopal Naidu
Deenadayalu and Thiru P Prammanayagam on Kanchira were the accompanists.
The vocal recitals were preceded Nrithiyanubhava and excellent
Bharatha Natyam event performed by Kalavithagar Thivya Sivanesan and her
pupils Sinthu Rajasekeram, Ahalya Sundaraj, Sugeetha Supaiah and
Praveena Pushparajah.
Mayurapathy Amman Temple President P Sunderalingam graced the
occasion as the chief guest. Instrumentalist R Sevaskandan, Dr A
Kandasamy, New Kathiresan Temple Trustee S Subramaniam Chettiar and
Express Newspapers Limited Managing Director Kumar Nadesan and All
Ceylon Hindu Congress President V Kailashapillai were the guests of
honour.
Nithiyashree said that she was very proud and happy to be performed
in a beautiful country like Sri Lanka with her group and thanked Hindu
Educational Society President S Ramachandran and its management
committee for organizing the colourful event at the Kathiresan Hall.
K Arbhinathan and K S Sridhara were responsible for organizing the
mega classical event. In appreciation of her remarkable contribution in
Music Nithiyashree was honoured by the prestigious Sasas in India and
abroad. |
