Identical triplets see the world

K K Deepika (32) and her husband P W Ranjith welcomed identical triplets into the world last Saturday at the Matara General Hospital. Spontaneous triplets, as they are called in medical literature, are a rare occurrence. The three girls born prematurely are still at the hospital.

In the case of Deepika and her husband, with the new born triplets now have eight children. They were parents to five children before they delivered their identical daughters.

K K Deepika is a resident of Beralapanathara, Galbokka, Kosgamuwa. She entered the Matara General Hospital on September 19.

As is often the case with multiple births, Deepika was suffering from preelampsia and other complications.
