Floods inundate Hettipola and Thanamalwila roads

The Sri Lanka Navy has sent men and boats to assist people affected by flood at Hettipola in Kurunegala and Thanamalwila in the Balangoda area. Disaster Management Centre (DMC) sources said that due to heavy rains experienced in the Hambegamuwa area, the Thanamalwila - Balangoda road has been submerged.

A DMC official said that a boat with seven Naval men have been dispatched to the Hettipola Police area as some places in the Variyapola and Gonnawa areas have been flooded.

It is also reported that around 100 persons in the Hettipola area have been affected as some houses have been damaged due to floods. The Naval men and boats have been deployed to help schoolchildren going for their year end term tests.
