Nita’s Theja to be screened at Goa festival

Nita Fernando’s movie co-production Theja has been selected to
represent Sri Lanka at the 41st International Film Festival of India (IFFI)
in Goa. The movie will be screened at the International Cinema of the
World category on November 25. It had been selected from among 450
international movies.

Shot using a Sony Digital EX1 camera Theja revolves around a series
of incidents connected with the life of the working class in the apparel
industry. Produced with a comparably low budget, the movie had completed
post production in Dilman Studio.
“Normally Sri Lankan directors fly to India to put the finishing
touches to their films. Theja is the first local film to conclude its
post production facilities in a local studio,” said Fernando who will
fly to India to take part in the event. She also added that Sri Lanka is
armed with the latest technological devices to wrap producing a movie.
Theja stars Nita Fernando in lead role along with actors Mahendra
Perera, Irangani Serasinghe, Sujani Menaka, Anuruddhika Padukkage and
Chamila Piries. It is directed by Nilantha Hapanveera and produced by
Nita Fernando, Thilanka Perera and Mahil Perera on behalf of Mayura Cine
