‘Lanka’s National Immunization Program has won Int’l recognition

Sri Lanka’s National Immunization Program has won International
recognition as one of the best in the world. Through this program Sri
Lanka achieved best health indicators in the region, Health Ministry
Additional Secretary Dr Palitha Maheepala said.
He was addressing the gathering after ceremonially launching the
operations of the Health Ministry after the commencement of the second
term of President Mahinda Rajapaksa. Dr Mahipala said that Sri Lanka has
made great strides by cutting down the infant mortality rate, maternal
mortality rate and controlling communicable diseases.
Dr Mahipala pointed out that the Ministry has already launched a
massive program under the direction of Health Minister Maithripala
Sirisena to control non communicable diseases in the country.
Sri Lanka’s health sector has already achieved many goals. The Health
Ministry will do its best to make Sri Lanka the Wonder of Asia according
to President Mahinda Rajapaksa’s vision. All Ministry officials
including Health Services Director General Dr. Ajith Mendis were present
at the occasion. |
