World rice congress in Panama
PANAMA: Panama will host the International World Rice Congress
in 2011, convened to exchange experiences on cultivation and processing,
official sources said.
According to the State Secretariat of Communication, the event will
bring together about 500 experts from 40 countries, who also will
promote new technologies and machines used in that activity.
The Minister of Agriculture Emilio Kieswetter said this congress will
be used to study the actual behaviour of this product and see the
progress of the industry.
It is expected that this event, which also include specialists in
irrigation systems, also have a positive impact on tourism.
Previews editions of this event have taken place in countries like
Brazil, Colombia and the USA.
