New Cabinet swearing-in today

The new Cabinet of Ministers would be sworn in before President Mahinda Rajapaksa at 10.00 am today at the Presidential Secretariat, the President's media said. The swearing-in of Ministers takes place following President Mahinda Rajapaksa being sworn in for a second term, Friday.

The Ministers would be sworn in ahead of the presentation of the budget in Parliament by the President in the afternoon. Speculation was rife yesterday that there was a possibility of several new Ministers and Deputy Ministers being appointed.

However, the matter was not confirmed by Government authorities when contacted.

Following the swearing-in the new Cabinet is expected to meet at Temple Trees under the leadership of the President.
