Sri Lankans storm into three finals
Manjula in high jump, Prasanna and Subashini in
men’s and women’s 400m:
Former Asian Championship gold medallist Manjula
Kumara Wijesekera, along with sprinters Prasanna Sampath Amarasekera
and Chandrika Subashini stormed to the finals of their respective
events as Sri Lanka made its presence felt on the opening day of the
athletic competition at the 16th Asian Games at Aoti Main Stadium
here today.

Nuwan in Lankan squad for Second Test
Seamer Nuwan Kulasekara has been recalled by Sri
Lankan national selectors for the second Test against West Indies
starting on Tuesday at the R. Premadasa Stadium. Fast bowlers
Dammika Prasad and Thilan Thushara have both been axed after failing
to take a wicket in the drawn first Test, with rookie Shaminda
Eranga included in a 16-man squad.Kulasekara played the last of his
11 Tests against India 12 months ago.

All matches called off early
All three Dialog Champions League matches were
halted before the the schedule due to heavy thunder showers that was
experienced last evening. At Police Park he hosts were in front 3-0
against Air Force when referee had to call off the game with 23
minutes of play left.
