Uruguayan President defends social justice
Uruguay: Uruguay President Jose Mujica defended the ideals of social
justice and said that, as his Ecuadorian counterpart Rafael Correa, and
cherishes the dream of a better world for the poor Tuesday in Guayaquil.
Both Presidents visited the popular plan Socio Vivienda (Social
Housing), implemented by the Ecuadorian people in the densely populated
Prosperina area, northwest of Guayaquil, where Mujica is currently on a
state visit.
Hundreds of poor people gave a warm welcome to the visitors and
Ecuadorian Housing Minister Walter Solis explained aspects related to
the program, which included granting 2,500 houses in its first stage.
Correa and Mujica also visited the Vicente Rocafuerte School, which
is being built in the outlying area of Guayaquil as part of the program
of Emblematic Schools implemented by the Education Ministry
