Premier opens Nidahasa exhibition

The Nidahasa Suba Sanskruthiyaka Pera Dekma exhibition organized in connection with the inauguration of President Mahinda Rajapaksa’s second term in office at the independence square, was opened by Prime Minister DM Jayaratne yesterday.

The exhibition showcases special moments in the country’s history, freedom, development, application of modern technology etc.

The exhibition includes an extremely rare photographic display of Sri Lankan history, an indigenous food section, special events for children, latest technological innovations and cultural shows. The Premier, speaking after inaugurating the event said that the people today could enjoy the ‘Nidahasa’ exhibition with a true sense of freedom.

The exhibition is a tour that provides both education and entertainment. One of its main themes would be development, he added. He predicted that people would be able to witness development hitherto unseen in Sri Lanka’s 2500-year history during the next six years under President Rajapaksa.

The special exhibition aims to showcase a mix of Sri Lanka’s proud history, patriotism and the use of modern technology in development, Mass Media and Communications Minister Keheliya Rambukwella said.

He noted that Sri Lankans today is enjoying true freedom and stability under President Mahinda Rajapaksa’s Government and added that this was not the case during last the three decades.

He predicted that Sri Lanka would rise as one of the economic giants in Asia during the coming years and urged all to support the country’s quest to be the Wonder of Asia.

The event was attended by Ministers, politicians, clergy, public etc. The exhibition would be open to the public for four days until the 20th of this month. It will be conducted till midnight on each day. A special bus service has been deployed for the convince of public.
