“It is the wisdom and commitment of a leader that makes the people to
raise him to that high office, to defence him and even to let him
continue, when there are hundreds and thousands of politicians who make
their way to power with the support of the public.
I never think it is verbose and flattering to call President Mahinda
Rajapaksa, a Great Man of the Era and a blessing to the whole nation.
Liberating both Sri Lanka and a population of twenty million from an
ill-fated thirty-year long war alone, would be sufficient to demonstrate
the unshaken leadership of him.
The commitment he displayed by identifying pioneer development
projects and securing necessary funds to implement them while the war
was at its high was so great towards assuring a tomorrow for the people
and a prosperous future for the country.
“The Port of ‘Magampura’ which was constructed according to an
innovative concept of the President could be called an entry point to
our common dream of making this little island the ‘Wonder of Asia’.
The coal power plant of Norochcholai, the electricity power project
of Moragahakanda and the international airport of Mattala are not dreams
of this Great Leader alone but something our future generation would
experience in their real life.
“I do not think it is a debatable fact to call him the ‘Father of
Principle’, not only of our younger generation but also of the elder
generation as well, as he is someone who follows up the motto that a
leader who is truly chosen by the people, differentiating him as a
‘Subject of the People’ and not a ‘Boss or the Head of the People’,
should necessarily play his role accordingly.
“May this birthday be a Healthy and a Sorrow-Free one for the Great
Survivor who cause to create a ‘ray of hope’ throughout an island once
torn apart!
“You are the ‘Giant Tree’ that would give shade to the whole nation
for an eternal period with the blessing of our people. May you live
long!”
