Army upset table leaders Police
Sri Lanka Police the table leaders in the Dialog Champions League was
beaten by the Army two goals to nil at the Police Park on Thursday. It
was a real battle with both teams producing entertaining soccer.
Policemen missed many chances of scoring.
Though the Policemen lost this game they still managed to hold on to
the top spot with 30 points under their belt.
Army’s three point addition did not make any change to their
positions in the standings.
Don Bosco outplay Java Lane 5-1
Don Bosco played a well planned game to outplay lowly placed Java
Lane SC, 5 goals to one at the City Football Complex. This game looked a
one-sided game with Negombo having the most of the possession. Chatura
Gunaratne was the play maker scoring 3 goals for the winners and also
became the highest scorer this season. Don Bosco advance is presently on
equal terms with the leaders with 30 points.
New Youngs win
The New Youngs SC from Wennappuwa had a good game against Jupitors SC
and beat the visitors 2-0 at Negombo. New Youngs now have a tally of 24
points and managed to take a step forward to occupy the third slot.
Blue Star beat Saunders 2-0
Blue Star SC which played well to beat Saunders SC 2-0 at the
Football Complex at Kelaniya, who are now positioned at the 9th place at
the Kelaniya FFSL Complex. The victory by the Kalutara Club did not make
any change in the standings.
Air Force victorious
Table leaders at the early stage Air Force which is struggling to
climb up, managed to beat Kalutara Park SC 2-0 win. They are already in
the 7th position and need to win almost every match to climb the ladder.
Ratnams-Renown in a draw
In a keenly contested match and Renown SC managed to overcome the
pressure of Ratnams and held the strong Ratnam SC to a 2-2 draw at the
CR & FC ground.
Though Ratnams drew this game, could not hold on their third place
and were down to fourth position.
