View youth differently - Minister

The country's youth have not been given due place by almost all Governments that came to power. It resulted in us having to face three revolts from the South and the North within a period of 30 years. The blood of Sri Lankans that were shed in three conflicts, said Youth Affairs Minister Dullas Alahapperuma. He expressed these views at the opening of the Technical College constructed at the cost of Rs 3 million in Nawalapitiya, Kurunduwatta town Thursday.

The Minister further said it is time the Youth Affairs Ministry is designed to look at the youth with a different view as envisaged in the Mahinda Chintana Idiri Dekma. Today we have been able to awaken the hopes and expectations of youth.

He further said that measures have been taken to establish a Juvenile Parliament and nominations were accepted for electing 332 members.

This Parliament consists of a Prime Minister, Ministers and Parliament Members.
