Navy helps flood victims

In a swift response to the floods that occurred due to heavy rains Wednesday night, Sri Lanka Navy deployed flood relief teams to assist general Public affected in several low-lying areas. Since the morning nine flood relief teams with 10 Ruber Floatable Dinghies (RFD) and Fiber Glass Dinghies (FGDs) deployed in Diyawanna Oya (Battaramulla), Piliyandala, Boralasgamuwa, Mirihana, Nugegoda, Rajagiriya, Narahenpita, Borella and Grand Pass areas.

Naval troops have assisted the evacuation of people trapped in buildings and homes and ferrying them to safe places. Continuing their relief operations for the second consecutive day. They distributed cooked meals and bottled drinking water to the people in the affected areas. As a precautionary measure, additional Naval flood relief teams were kept for contingency deployments.
