Al Jazeera footage on killings a lie

Media and information Minister Keheliya Rambukwella vehemently dismissing the authenticity of the photograph shown on Al Jazeera on the killing allegedly, captured during the final stages of the war with Tiger terrorists noted that Al Jazeera itself has announced that they carried this unverified footage. The Minister said that there was nothing new, but bits and pieces of what was shown on Chanel 4 previously on the same matter.

Al Jazeera had shown photographs of bodies and execution-style killings allegedly captured during the final stages of the war in Sri Lanka. But they themselves announced that they were unable to verify their authenticity.

When these were first shown on Channel 4 sometime back the Sri Lanka Government dealt with it and scientifically proved that footage was fabricated. Therefore the Government is of the firm view that credibility of the footage of Al Jazeera cannot be taken seriously.

It is also regrettable to note that Al Jazeera having run this fabricated story while the Government has already dealt with it and proved it was nothing but a lie.
