ADB content with development drive
The Asian Development Bank Executive Director Jaejung Song on a
felicitation visit to Sri Lanka met Finance and Planning Deputy Minister
and Senior Presidential Advisor Dr Sarath Amunugama at the Ministry
Office recently to discuss matters pertaining to development projects in
Sri Lanka.
Detailing the development activities in Sri Lanka Dr Amunugama said
that Asian Development Bank assistance has contributed on a large scale
to energize the Government's development drive.
In response to a question raised by Dr Amunugama whether there are
snags in constructing the Southern Highway Project, Song said that the
construction work in one section is doing well but the other section is
staggering to a certain extent due to few reasons.
He also said that he had visited the new fish market and port. The
progress in those sectors are satisfactory, he said. During 2010, Asian
Development Bank has contributed approximately US $ 450 million on
development projects in Sri Lanka chiefly to develop the road network in
the dilapidated North and East.
Asian Development Bank Country Director Richard Vokes and External
Resources Department, Director General J H J Jayamaha also participated
the discussion. |
