Cut-outs to attract tourists

Instead of commercial cut-out Ads along the Katunayake-Colombo road, The Tourism Board has decided to erect cut-outs which display scenic locations in Sri Lanka said Deputy Economic Development Minister Lakshman Yapa Abeywardhana addressing a World Tourism Day award ceremony yesterday.

There are plenty of beautiful locations in Sri Lanka which the tourists are unaware of the Ministry is planning to promote these locations and attract more tourists, he said. “Last month we held a World Tourism Day at Kirala Kelle in Matara.

It is a beautiful place but even Sri Lankans don’t know about this place,” he said.

He said his Ministry was planning to launch “Visit 2011”, a special promotional program to attract more tourists by next year.
