Ruhunu University incident:

Six undergrads suspended

The Ruhunu University Governing Board has decided to temporarily suspend six undergraduates after a special meeting on Saturday.

The Board also decided to appoint a three member disciplinary committee to probe the incident where the Ruhunu University Vice Chancellor was assaulted.

Six students had allegedly assaulted Ruhunu University Vice Chancellor Prof Susirith Mendis on Wednesday after he tried to solve a dispute between two student groups.

Police took a suspect into custody in this connection.
