Delivering the keynote address at the function, Deputy Minister
Abeywardena said that there has been a dearth in literary productions in
the country since 1960 due to uncertain atmospheres caused by 1971, 1989
and LTTE havocs which hindered the free thinking of people.
Short stories became inspirational instruments for many of our films
as well as films produced in India and for the last several decades
people were devoid of this motivating source because they had to undergo
difficulties and uncertainties.
Since the country is now free from the terrorism, people are now free
to think beyond their day to day problem and view the affairs of the
society in a wider perspective.
Government Information Director General Professor Ariyaratne Atugala,
Professor Tissa Kariyawasam and Information Director Wasantha Priya
Ramanayake also participated. |
