Weightlifting silver for Vidanage
The golden boy from Polonnaruwa, the
weightlifting hero of our era, the 1996 Commonwealth Games Gold
Medallist, Chinthana Geethal Vidanage did Mother Lanka proud winning
the first Silver Medal at the Nineteenth Edition of the Commonwealth
Games in New Delhi yesterday.

Ambepitiya, Chandrika in semis
Sri Lankan sprinters fared well at the
Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium yesterday, qualifying for the semi-finals
of their respective events. Sprinter Shehan Ambepitiya did
exceptionally well, recording his personal best of 10.31 seconds in
the second round of the men’s 100m event finishing the race as the
fourth.
