Distribution of sports goods

Sports goods and clothes to the value of Rs 65 lakhs will be distributed among sportsmen and sportswomen from the Central Province who will be participating at the National Sports Festival organized by the Ministry of Sports which will be held in Kandy from October 29 to November 1 at several venues. The athletic championship will be held at the Bogambara Stadium.

The distribution of sports goods and clothing will be made by the Chief Minister of the Central Province Sarath Ekanayake, Minister of Sports of CP Ms Anusha Sivaraja, Secretary to Ministry of Industries and Sports Ms Shirani Weerakoon and the Central Province Director of Sports H G Ariyaratne and others.

The Chief Minister of Central Province Sarath Ekanayake said that the Bogambara Stadium has been closed for all sports and the facilities upgraded for the big occasion.

This, he along with the Minister of Sports C B Ratnayake have carried out inspection of the venue and with about one more month to go they are satisfied with the progress made.

All barren patches in the playing field have been replanted with grass and the rains experienced at present has been a god-send and the luxuriant growth grass has been accelerated.
