Massive water supply projects

The Government has allocated Rs.172 million to commence large-scale water supply projects in the Kurunegala district.

Senior Presidential Advisor and Economic Development Minister Basil Rajapaksa who chaired the District Development Committee Review Meeting held in Kurunegala yesterday agreed to provide Rs.172million on a special request made by Co-operative and Internal Trade Minster Johnston Fernando.

This amount will be released in addition to Rs. 870 million allocated for the implementation of proposed water supply projects in the Kurunegala district.

It was revealed that funds allocated for this massive water supply scheme in last year had not released.

Therefore,work on many water supply projects have been blocked due to lack of funds.
