Govt bans Soybean import

The Government has taken a policy decision to stop importing Soybeans
and purchase them at a fixed price of Rs 85 from the local farmers.
The ban was effective from September 28.
Regional Government Farmers' Association will purchase one kilo of
Soybean at Rs 85 and will sell to the Threeposha companies at Rs 95. The
financial assistance for the Threeposha companies to buy Soybeans will
be given by Regional Development Banks.
The storage facilities will be available at Sathosa storage complex
affiliated to the Cooperative Ministry. Agriculture project officers of
the Ministry will check the quality of Soybeans.
Cooperative Ministry together with Health and Finance Ministries has
made this policy decision to increase local Threeposha production.
Majority of farmers have cultivated their lands with Maze and Soybeans
this season. Finance, Cooperative an Agriculture Ministry officials are
making plans to purchase their produce.
