Army flags blessing ceremony today

The traditional army flags blessing ceremony will take place today at
6 am in the presence of the Anuradhapura Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi.
Army Commander Jagath Jayasuriya participates as the Chief Guest of
the event.
The Army Commander, Security Forces Divisional Commanders, Brigade
Commanders, Area Commanders, Commandants and Unit Commanders of all
regiments of the Sri Lanka Army are attending the ceremony with their
respective flags taken in a slow motion parade escorted by the Army band
to the foot of the Sacred Bo tree for blessing.
Maha Sangha headed by Atamsthanadhipathi Ven Dr Pallegama Sirinivasa
Nayake Thera and the Chief Incumbents of the eight places of worship
fulfil the religious observance and rites in the manner descending from
the time of our great kings to invoke the blessings of the Sri Maha
Bodhi and the deities safeguarding the Sacred asset.
Nearly 387 flags will be blessed at the ceremony.
