Youth Games begins in Jaffna today

The 22nd Youth Sports Festival will commence today at the Duraiappa stadium in Jaffna and will come to an end on September 26. This year all 25 districts will be represented at this festival.

This mega event which is staged here after a long lapse is mainly due to the peace that was brought to this area ending the ethnic war which prevailed for thirty long years.

A colorful opening and a closing ceremony is planned for the festival which will give the Youth of South and North the opportunity display their talents competing against each other. This also will serve as a roadway for the youth of North to make their way to the national arena.

Youth Affairs Minister Dallas Alahapperuma, and Deputy Minister Mahindananda Aluthgamage will present themselves on the final day as chief guest and guest of honor.
