High and Medium grown:
Tea production increases in August
Sri Lanka’s August, 2010 tea production figures released by the Sri
Lanka Tea Board shows a monthly output of 25,154,407 kg compared with
23,875,475 during the corresponding month in 2009. This reflects an
increase of 1.2 million kgs or 5.36 percent.
The High and Medium Grown increases are 0.80 and 1.24 million kgs
respectively, while the Low Grown production shows a deficit of 165,000
Kgs.
The total production for January/August, 2010, is 221.2 million kg
compared with 181.8 million kg in 2009, reflecting an increase of 39.3
million kgs or 21.66 percent.
The Low Grown increase for this period is 23.2 million kgs, whilst
the gain over last year’s Jan/Aug for High and Medium Growns is 6.5 MKGS
and 9.5 MKGS respectively.
