Lara beats Lynn
Spaniard Jose Manuel Lara beat Briton David Lynn in a play-off at the
Austrian Open for his second European Tour title.
Both players finished with a 17 under par total of 271 after the
fourth round, with Lara taking the honours on the first extra hole after
Lynn took three shots to make the green. He two-putted leaving the
33-year-old Lara, who was building on his fourth place finish in last
week’s Dutch Open, to win with a par.
This win represents a major turnaround in fortune for the
Valencia-born Lara who only a fortnight ago was in danger of losing his
Tour card after nine successive missed cuts. He put himself in line for
victory with a closing round of 64 peppered with ten birdies, holing a
curling 20 foot putt on the final green to set the clubhouse target at
17 under.
