Ananda’s gymnasts steal the limelight on the second day

Ananda College took the major honours on the second day of the
Gymnastic Championship of the National Schools Sports Festival which is
now underway, at the Sugathadasa Indoor Stadium. Ananda College’s Pamod
Maduranga Gunasekera was the most notable gymnast out of many who
performed well yesterday. Pamod was placed first in the Vault, Still
Rings and Uneven Bars events while the Anandians won six first places on
the second day.
This year’s school games see the participation of athletes from 905
schools around the island including North and East. Marking a
significant increase of the number of participation, 2751 athletes
representing 140 schools from the North and East are also taking part.
Prima is the main sponsor for this year’s meet while the co-sponsor
is DSI and the meet is conducted by the Education Ministry.
