Benedictines stun Wesley

St. Benedict's College Kotahena created an upset when they beat the giant killers of the opening day Wesley College 2-0 on the second day of the Hockey National School Games organized by the Ministry of Education and worked for the second day at Edward Park and Bernard Aluwihare Stadium Matale yesterday. At half time Benedictine led 1-0.

Another School to impress in the tournament was Pushpadane Girls College who beat Bishop's College 5-0 and Sangamitta Balika Vidyalaya Matale to enter the Semi-finals of the tournament.

The result of other matches played yesterday were:

Yasodara Vidyalaya beat St. Anthonys Girls College Kandy 1-0, Seetha Devi Balika Vidyalaya beat Christ Church College, Matale 2-0.

Visakha Vidyalaya beat Kegalle Balika Vidyalaya 6-0.

Boys

Zahira College, Matale beat Kingswood College 2-1.

Dharmaraja College beat Vijaya College 3-2.

Ananda College beat Joseph Vaz College, Wennappuwa 1-0.

Nalanda College beat Sri Sumangala College 4-0.

The girls and boys semi fianls will be worked off this morning.

The finals will be worked off from 3 p.m. today at Nandamithra Ekanayake International Hockey Stadium, Matale.
