Old Bens fight back to beat Moratuwa BC-88/83

Old Bens BC produced a magnificent second half rally to beat Moratuwa
BC ‘B’ by 88 points to 83 in their Carlton Cup 2010 inter-club
basketball tournament match worked off under lights at the Depot Police
Courts in Bambalapitiya yesterday.
Old Bens BC were trailing by a huge margin of 37-50 at half time but
came back strongly in the second half to pull off a thrilling victory at
the end. Nushan Eranda (27) and Sanjay Ganlath (23) were the two key
players who turned the game in their favour with their all round
performances.
Moratuwa BC ‘B’ of course rallied around through the individual
brilliance of Charitha Kaluwardena (30) with Thaminda Fernando (17)
providing the back up support.
All Greens triumph
Meanwhile All Greens BC pulled off a convincing 58-37 victory over
Sri Jayawardenapura University BC after having led 33-24 at half time in
another encounter played at the same venue. Ifthaz Nasi (12) and R.
Shahin (10) were the main contributors for All Greens BC while Joy
Fernando (12) and A. Kasun (10) excelled for Sri Jayawardenapura
University BC.
Field
Force win
In another fixture Field Force BC had the better of Moratuwa
University BC 79-67 after having led 42-27 at the half way mark. H.
Chatura (15) and Shiyan Dole (14) did the bulk of the scoring for the
winners while S. Mahesh (20) and M. Prashan (19) figured in a vain
effort for Moratuwa University.
Easy for Old Peterites
In another one sided encounter Old Peterites BC trounced Sri Lanka
Police ‘B’ team 75-45 after having built up a commanding 36-19 at half
time. S. Lakshan (34) had a tremendous game for the winners in both
attack and defence and received good support from M. Ahmed (13). T.
Greasy (14) and T. Dissanayake (14) were the two outstanding players for
Police ‘B’ team. |
